These photos are my first attempt with the tripod that Will bought me… for Christmas. I don’t want to hear about the fact that it’s May because I’ve already gotten that from him. The point of this is that it took me an hour and a half and I was about to throw the damn thing (camera included) over the fence. So here are a few tips for first time tripod users to not get to the point that I was at:
1) When you set up the shot, give yourself little marker points so that you know where to stand. I thought I was in the frame, popped off 20 shots, only to find that I cut off my head, arm, shoes, etc. This can be anything from a twig to stand on to a flower to be in front of.
2) Breathe. Slowly. And take a break if you feel the urge to throw your camera. Make sure to keep in mind that you need to hide the remote, keep an eye on the lighting, etc. I made silly mistakes when I started to get flustered around the hour mark.
3) Remember that it’s all trial and error. Lots and lots of error. But that’s good and by the end of it, I was getting much better pictures.
I think my neighbor was amused by it all. He asked what I was doing and then more questions about the blog. I’m sure he doesn’t see other tenants taking pictures of themselves and standing on benches everyday. Hey, whatever it takes, right?
I have a couple of weeks until my birthday and I still don’t know how I want to celebrate. Two of my good friends will be in Peru for it, which sort of sucks for planning purposes. Honestly, my head is sort of on my New York trip at the end of the month, anyway. I’ll get to see my parents, most if not all of my extended family (I’ll be attending a wedding on each side), meet Will’s parents, and shop/eat/watch Youtube videos with my best friend (hi Babykeiks!). But I know I have to celebrate my birthday somehow before I leave. Even if it’s just me eating a whole Carvel ice cream cake by myself. Come to think of it, that would be an awesome birthday. Noted.

P.S. Below, you will find a picture of my amazing roommate, Raul. Normally, he dances and gives me cookies, which is more than enough to earn my love. But on this particular day, he offered to take my photos after seeing me try to get out the door with the tripod and still make it to work on time. Three cheers for Raul. Hip hip hooray!
If this ever posts, it’ll be a miracle. My internet…. well, my neighbor’s internet (shh)… has been in and out all day. These are the last pictures from the Nashville trip. Ya know, from back in November. Haha. Ughh. I just got them from Keiko. But I have all my China pictures to go through and put up, so I figured it’s better than nothing. There are so many things I need to get done and I just get overwhelmed and shut down. I have to make a huge effort to not let my lists and errands drown me. I read somewhere that you need to pick 5 things from a list and work on just those in one day. I was told the other day to just work on the two major ones. I wish it was that simple. I need to set up a work space in my room for working on the necklaces and headbands. I found a desk on Craigslist that I wanted. It needs paint and new knobs but the DIY wheels started rolling and my little heart got set on it. The woman said she has another potential buyer and that she’d let me know. So annoying. Just sell me the desk.
I’m going to attempt to pull myself away from the internet and get to Target. It’s just so hard with videos like this circulating. Pretty sure I’d react this way to several different animals. Holy awesome.
Enjoy!
