Every now and then there’s a band that you really want to see, and for whatever reason, you never make it out to a show. It probably didn’t help that when I first got into No Doubt, I was still listening to cassette tapes and was many years away from having a permit, let alone a car. I remember getting ready for school in the mornings and listening to Just a Girl on MTV.
I heard that No Doubt was going to be playing six or seven shows at the Gibson. I told every single one of my managers that if they had extra tickets that I would gladly take them off their hands. I was also checking Stubhub and Craigslist since I missed the initial on sale dates. As luck would have it, two of my managers gave me a pit wristband for two different nights where Grouplove was opening. (I love Grouplove.) In addition to that, No Doubt ended up being the surprise guest at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. Basically, I went from years of wanting to see them play, to seeing them three times in roughly two weeks. They were absolutely incredible and Gwen will forever be one of my idols. Plus, look at that body! After two kids? I have some working out to do.
