Sleep until the sun goes down…

I woke up in a “holy crap I leave tomorrow” panic. I’m still in bed though so I can’t be that worried, right? Plus, I’m making tons of lists… in my head, on my phone, and on paper. I’ll be damned if I forget anything.

My strategy for trips and visits has been somewhat perfected over the last year or two. I write down everywhere I want to go, everyone I want to see, and all the things I want to eat. The last one being the most important obviously. It’s been helpful for everything from friends visiting, to going abroad. I plan out my days the minute I get there, taking into account weather and when places are closed, and make sure it all fits in.

My travel buddy, Jessica, has been sort of doing this for years. Every trip we’ve been on she handed me a packet at the beginning with popular phrases, conversion rates, and places we could go. I’m trying to make one for Barcelona right now, but let’s be honest: She’s the expert. There’s going to be eight of us on this trip, so whether it’s chaotic or not, it’s going to be a ton of fun.

Colors and leaves…

I was looking through older photos (these are from November), to see which colors I want to put back in my hair on Thursday. I totally forgot to post these, although you may have seen them on Keiko’s blog. She still owes me one more set. I’m going to have to get the blackmail started soon if she doesn’t give them up!

So far, today has been a lazy day of painting panda necklaces and making to do lists in my head. I worked a video game release late last night and completely over slept this morning. So much for being productive on my day off. Tonight is my belated Valentine’s Day date with Will so I better start getting ready and caffeinating. My bed is just so comfy…

Underneath the swinging lights…

I’m OBSESSED with Claudia and Mark’s house in Nashville. Like, I don’t even think the all caps on that got the point across. It’s perfect. Everything about it. The wall colors alone are to die for, but then take in the fact that each room has it’s own personality. I can’t get enough of it. Every time I go there, I’m drooling.

Will and I have been discussing our moving in together in the fall. We’re going to make a list of must haves and would likes to help narrow down the process. He can look at three places and then pick one. I, on the other hand, need to see every place available and usually end up crying during the process. Wherever we end up, I’m going to definitely take more time to decorate early on. No more waiting until a year in. Wall painting, picture hanging, and the bar cart I’ve been wanting will all be done and in place within the first month. I’m going to start pinning ideas on Pinterest now so I’ll be ready for a move by September. On that note, I should start throwing stuff out too. I own way too much and the thought of moving it all is overwhelming!

Do what you don’t do…

All of Me by Tanlines on Grooveshark

I started working towards my resolutions last week. Although, I’ll admit I didn’t get very far with six shifts at work. Luckily, I’ll be able to devote much more time seeing as how I am only working three days this week. That being said, I’m on a bit of a spending freeze for the next couple months. I’m saving up for my trip to Spain to visit Drew. The dress in the photos above (my new favorite) and my Sea of Bees necklace were probably my last clothing purchases for a while. I say that now, but the second I let myself walk into a store or go to an online shop, all bets are off. Oh well.

I made a point to go out to Bootie LA the other night, knowing full well that I had to work at 8am the next morning. It was a rough start to my day, but totally worth it. I want to make a point to do the things that make me happy. I also need to start doing things on my own (like take a freaking dance class already). I just prefer the buddy system. It’s much more fun and helps the decision making throughout the day. Win win, right?

Fall Leaves

Fall Leaves

I arrived in Florida yesterday and have been spending time with my parents and their new puppy, Otto. So far we’ve decorated the tree, gone to the beach (yay Christmas in Florida), and had cotton candy ice cream from Larry’s. All the best things. Having a little puppy running around is magical during the holidays. Although, I’ll be honest, he is hyper as anything.

I’ve been working on some kinks in the blog so hopefully it will be all systems go soon. In the meantime, I better get some sleep. I have Christmas shopping to finish tomorrow. Then I’ll turn into an elf and wrap everything. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season with their friends and families!

Good times

Today was the first day of my midweek weekend so I attempted to do some Christmas shopping. I started strong and then crashed and burned. But the attempt was there so I’ll go ahead and count it. Productivity is a tricky little bastard.

At least I just bought makeup and not clothes. I have more clothing than I can adequately store, yet I always feel like I have nothing to wear. Case in point: the above outfit. The skirt AND sweater both belong to Keiko. Forty-something pounds in my suitcase and I ran out of things I wanted to wear, oh… I’d say about two days into our trip. Or maybe she just had better stuff. Yea, that’s definitely it.

Tomorrow I’ll be baking with some of my friends from work. Hello Sailor is turning into hello gingerbread men. And hey, I’m alright with that.

Apple Cider

I’m such a sucker for autumn. One of my favorite things to do on my Nashville trip was to pull over (or stop walking) to look at all of the beautiful trees. Brilliant shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown were all around us and I wondered how I could deprive any future children of that sight. I will say though that I have noticed the leaves changing in LA this year. I feel like I haven’t noticed it as much in other years. Maybe it’s where I currently live or the weather cooled down more rapidly. I couldn’t say for sure, but it’s beautiful.

I’ve been drinking lots of apple cider (spiked and regular!) and buying apple cider candles too. I’m obsessed. I just ordered pumpkin and gingerbread candles as well, so hopefully they smell just as good. I really need to pull away from the online shopping though. At least some of the purchases are for Christmas gifts. That makes it ok, right?

Nashville Light

During my Nashville trip, Keiko’s cousin, Claudia, sat me down as the sun was setting for some photos. The light was peeking through the windows and we literally had maybe ten minutes before it was completely gone. I’m so used to all the fake lens flares on instagram apps, so it was fun to get some photos with natural ones. I’ll have the rest of my photos from my trip up by next week.  I miss the fall leaves and southern food already. Keiko also brought me to Cracker Barrel for the first time. Mmm chicken and dumplings. So good.

P.S. For anyone interested, the dress is made by Darling and is available on Emerging Thoughts.

November will mark the one year anniversary of Keiko and I eating and shopping our way through Nashville. We said it was the first annual Nashville trip, and in less than a week, I’ll be flying out to make the second. I’m excited for Halloween and all but let’s be honest, the fall leaves and southern hospitality are what are really on my mind.  View high resolution

Children, Wake Up..

If this ever posts, it’ll be a miracle. My internet…. well, my neighbor’s internet (shh)… has been in and out all day. These are the last pictures from the Nashville trip. Ya know, from back in November. Haha. Ughh. I just got them from Keiko. But I have all my China pictures to go through and put up, so I figured it’s better than nothing. There are so many things I need to get done and I just get overwhelmed and shut down. I have to make a huge effort to not let my lists and errands drown me. I read somewhere that you need to pick 5 things from a list and work on just those in one day. I was told the other day to just work on the two major ones. I wish it was that simple. I need to set up a work space in my room for working on the necklaces and headbands. I found a desk on Craigslist that I wanted. It needs paint and new knobs but the DIY wheels started rolling and my little heart got set on it. The woman said she has another potential buyer and that she’d let me know. So annoying. Just sell me the desk.

I’m going to attempt to pull myself away from the internet and get to Target. It’s just so hard with videos like this circulating. Pretty sure I’d react this way to several different animals. Holy awesome.

Enjoy!

Kimberly Grace
