Life’s a beach…

Alexis (see American flag nail girl) got to Huntington Beach some time around the ungodly hour of 6am to secure a fire pit for our group. Samantha and I rolled in at about 1pm, after somebody’s wonderful grandfather let us park in his driveway. Note for next year: Get there earlier so you aren’t having a panic attack over finding parking.

I spent about 6 glorious hours frolicking in the ocean, building sand turtles, diving into waves, and basking in the sun. There was delicious food and drinks, most notably my glass bottle cokes and the sangria. Some time around 6:30pm, the Huntington Beach cops kicked us off the beach for drinking and having glass bottles. I’m telling you, there is a special place in hell reserved for those guys. I’ll go ahead and say at least 75% of the people on that beach had alcohol and we were the only ones targeted. He smiled the whole time and didn’t consider that we would need to drive to leave which was obviously not going to happen. I got a little heated and argued back until he yelled at me to leave and threatened to cite and/or arrest us. Not worth it.

Luckily, we are a resourceful group. We walked a few miles over to the pier and got into a restaurant 2 minutes before it shut it doors. A few drinks and a delicious meal later, we were out on the patio watching the beautiful fire works display. All in all, it shaped up to be a pretty awesome 4th of July. Next year, we’ll just have to be a little more sneaky about our beverages…

Hearts,
Kimberly Grace
