My dad has always been a big fan of horse racing. He still looks up stats and watches on Sundays. Every now and then he makes it out to an actual track. When I was an infant, he brought me to the track with him (we have a picture of him holding me in one hand and a hot dog in the other). A woman apparently went up to him and gave him hell for bringing a baby to the races. He waved her off and said, “Hey lady. It’s my kid. Get lost.”
We also always called this one race announcer “Uncle Harvey”. I assumed he was actually our uncle since we have a picture with him when I was a baby and another when I was about ten years old. Well apparently the “Uncle” part in that was just something my parents said for the hell of it. Or as a joke. Not sure. But yea, definitely no blood relation there.
These pictures are actually from my friend’s camera because I lost the charger for mine. Samantha, Nelinda, and I went to Hollywood Park Racetrack to bet on some races, have some $1 beers (I was the DD so it was Diet Coke for me), and see the GIN BLOSSOMS! So good. I only knew like 4 songs but Till I Hear It From You is one of my favorites. We made friends with the horses shown in the second picture (Troy and Biggie Smalls) and even some of the kids (parents totally MIA though). I bet $2 to show on Make Papa Proud (lost) and Kim’s Leading Man (won!) so I basically broke even… which I’m going to go ahead and say is winning when you’re gambling.
As for the lack of updates… I forgot about my blog. How does one do that you ask? Well it starts with moving back to LA. Then add in a dash of apartment beautifying and lots of friend hangs and yep… just forgot. I’ve been running around like a mad woman though, so hopefully I’ll put all the happenings up here. There have also been some cute outfits I have missed documenting. All in due time my loves.
Hearts,
Kimberly Grace
