This will be my one big overview of last month’s shows, presentations, and events for New York Fashion Week. I’ll try to condense it as much as possible, since its all in one post. I was running around a lot so I didn’t always remember to take pictures but hopefully this will give a bit of a look into my NYFW. I’ll post my backstage beauty coverage of the Rachel Roy show tomorrow.
I was able to attend Porter Grey’s show with my friend, Kim. You might remember these photos from that day. I really liked a lot of the pieces. The two sequined items were obvious favorites of mine, along with some other shorts and skirts that just had really great cuts. The line featured some very bold solid colors as well as a bunch of beautiful prints. And although I usually enjoy a good gaudiness to my clothing, I loved that the line was ready to wear and classic (with a twist!).

Keiko and I attended a 10th Anniversary party for Arrojo Salon where Nick Arrojo actually got on the turntables and DJ’d for a bit.

I completely failed at Fashion’s Night Out this year. I had major plans with Holly of hitting up 3 events and only made it to two. Trying to run around the city to different areas in a 4 hour time frame just isn’t easy/possible. We did go to Coach first but the caterers were useless (the guy wouldn’t bring the trays of food near us… jerk!) so we left to go show our support for Keiko. She hosted a party at Elie Tahari. We met up with Bobby and a ton of our other blogger buddies and I ate massive amounts of mini cupcakes. Yum!

Below is the Rebecca Minkoff show that I was fortunate enough to attend. I had major hair envy. I need to start teasing the crap out of my hair. The line was very pretty and I loved the flowy pieces. I admired Rebecca’s ability to be more than 8 months pregnant and attend her runway show AND after party, all in one day.

Before I get to these last few photos, I’d like to tell you what happened right before them. I got in an elevator to go up to the Amanda Pearl presentation (see next three photos) and a bunch of models on their way to the Walter presentation crammed in so that they didn’t have to wait for the next elevator. They’re skinny… no problem right? WRONG. The elevator went down to the basement and got stuck. We kept pressing the button but no one responded. A few minutes later, the elevator door opened and we got out into a room with no doors or access to stairs. We basically had to wait for other elevators to end up down there and send a few people up at a time. I was down in the basement for about 15 minutes before I finally got back up. I’d like to say I didn’t panic in the elevator but I was totally freaking out, thinking “these tall bitches are stealing all my air” and contemplated putting my heels back on.
So when I eventually made it up to the Amanda Pearl presentation, I was a little flustered. They handed me a glass of wine and I got to look around at all the pretty bags and jewelry. A few of the stand out pieces for me were the big blue stone necklace and the laser cut bag (tote shown but there was a clutch, too). Isn’t Amanda adorable? We had a whole conversation about how she wants to dye her hair teal.

These are some of the models from the Walter presentation and the two on the right were stuck in the elevator with me.

All in all, I had a great time running around to the different events. It was fantastic seeing Keiko, Bobby, and all my animal loves from when I was living in New York. I had decided whether or not to go very last minute and didn’t regret it at all. I’ve sort of learned over the years that you regret the things you don’t do, more than the things you do. And besides… money is made to be spent. And boy, do I like to spend it. I have a trip a month planned until January. Better get working.
